If you are are looking for academic and scholarly resources, try these:
- Google Scholar
- Core
- Directory of open Access Journals
- JSTOR (some content available for free. Full access available through State Library of Victoria membership)
Use searchsmart.com
Go to searchsmart.org.
Select your field of research and click on "Start comparison."
Search Smart will give you a list of databases relevant to your field. The most relevant will be ranked at the top.
You can locate the databases that provide the most coverage of a particular topic e.g. Covid-19.
To do so:
• Select "Keywords"
• Click "Edit keywords"
• Select "covid-19"
• Click "Select keywords"
• Click "Start comparison"
You can also select "search functionalities" that the databases support. E.g.Select "Forward citation searching" for databases of clinical trials.

Make sure you select 'only show non-paywalled databases' which show those with freely accessible search interface. The number of open access records will vary.
